This week's recipe came from Amanda of Like Sprinkles on a Cupcake. She chose Cherry Rhubarb Cobbler. I grew up in the south and I have never seen or tasted rhubarb, so I was very excited to use it UNTIL I went to FIVE grocery stores before I finally found it. I LOVED the biscuit topping and the cherries, but I didn't really care for the rhubarb. I can see how people who grew up eating it love it, though.
I made mini cobblers and gave one to my friend, Peggy. Her husband LOVES rhubarb. Peggy and her husband loved the cobbler. Peggy is one of my usual testers. She may be my next recruit- She bought the cookbook today, but I think she is still a little unsure about blogging.
I had some extra time with Dorie this week- On Saturday night I made Peanut Butter Torte. There really are not words to describe how amazing that recipe is. It was definitely my favorite thing I've ever made.
I also made a german chocolate cake for my assistant, Marilyn. Today is her b-day!!!

MINI COBBLERS!! I so should have thought about that! I did have an idea -- you said you wanted to try it with chocolate next time -- how about just the cherry as the filling but make chocolate biscuits with chocolate chips in them as the topping? Just a thought. This is so much fun!!! YAY!!!!
OH, one more thing -- that peanut butter torte looks RIDICULOUS!!! That looks like the kind of thing that will make you forget about a bad day....or week. =)
I love your sweet little cobblers. Man you were on a baking roll! Your German Chocolate cake(my husbands favorite) and that pb torte are super yummy looking! I can't wait to see your galette next Tuesday.

Wow! What a busy baking week.. I'm so jealous! Those cakes look really yummy. I think it's so great to bake with friends.. although I'd probably get so controlling over everything.. haha

I have been lusting after that peanut butter torte recipe for a year. Now I think I really DO have to make it! Looks amazing. Thanks for the heads-up that the recipe is as good as it looks in the book.
I think you're right... rhubarb is an acquired taste (or one you're simply born with).
Way to go on bringing your friend into the mix. I hope the two of you have fun and it does seem nice to have someone in person to talk to about the recipes and even do the recipes together!
Your little cobblers look wonderful as do the other desserts you made. My daughter is begging to make cookies and I haven't even flipped through the book all the way yet so I guess I better get looking.
